About the role

The Moredun Research Institute (MRI) ( is seeking to appoint non-executive directors to its Board of Directors.

Non-Executive Directors in the areas of veterinary microbiology, governance and policy, and livestock farming/veterinary practice.

Experience required

Applicants should possess excellent leadership, business, scientific or livestock farming/veterinary skills, be familiar with the principles of corporate governance and be nationally recognised in any of the fields above.  As a member of the Board you must also demonstrate a commitment to a high level of involvement and support for the work of the Institute.

This appointment will initially be for a period of 3 years with the possibility of re-appointment up to a max of 3 terms (9 years).  The Board normally meets 4 times a year and in addition members may be asked to attend extraordinary meeting and strategic planning meetings but these are not expected to be more than 2 days a year.

The posts are not remunerated but reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed.

Interviews will take place on the afternoon of the week commencing 22nd August 2022 at Moredun Research Institute, Pentlands Science Park, Bush Loan, Penicuik, EH26 0PZ (or by phone/videoconference).

Appointments will commence at the next scheduled Board meeting, September 2022 and will be ratified at the AGM following the Board meeting in September 2022.
