
Kath Livesay
Biography
Kath farms an approx 295ha mixed enterprise on Firth Farm, near Lilliesleaf, Melrose in Scottish Borders along with her husband, and also runs a small self employed Farm Accounting Business.
The farm runs 1100 flock of Breeding Ewes, a herd of 90 Pedigree Salers Breeding Cattle, (selling quality CHeCS accredited livestock), 50ha Arable cropping and a diversified business selling mobile sheep handling units imported from New Zealand. Kath and her family were privileged to be the first QMS Monitor Farm in 2003 – 2006 a worthwhile experience gaining confidence and recognition for this contribution to farming.
Kath’s committee involvement started in Young Farmers doing Secretary and Treasurer positions leading onto being a past member of the QMS Research & Development Committee and the Borders RHET Committee. As well as being a Moredun Research Insitute Board member, Kath is currently also Treasuer of Salers Cattle Society Council – a position she has held for the past 6 years.
Kath has 2 sons, one employed with ANM, Thainstone as an Auctioneer and the other employed in the farm business.
