The Moredun Group of Companies (“Moredun Group”) is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy.

This policy (together with our terms of use and any other documents referred to in either of them) sets out the basis upon which any personal data we collect from you, or that you provide to us, will be processed by us. Please read the following carefully to understand our views and practices regarding your personal data and how we will treat it. Information we may collect from you

Our intention is that all data collection is made clear to the site visitor. Such data shall be collected and held by The Moredun Foundation (on behalf of the Moredun Group) in accordance with the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998 (the “Act”).

We may collect, store and process the following data about you: Information that you provide by filling in forms on our sites at www.moredun.org.uk, www.moredun.ac.uk, www.pentlands.co.uk, and/or www.moredun-scientific.com (each “our site”). This includes information provided at the time of registering to use our site (if applicable), raising queries with us or requesting further information from us via our site. Certain data is stated to be mandatory (e.g. name and email address) and certain data is optional (e.g. telephone number). If you contact us, we may keep a record of that correspondence. Details of transactions you carry out through our site (including making on-line donations and/or purchasing goods from www.moredun.org.uk). Details of your visits to our site and the resources that you access.

How do we use this information?

We will use your personal information to provide you with the services, products or information you have requested, for administration purposes and to further our charitable aims and objectives, including for fundraising purposes. We may need to share your information with our service providers, associated companies and agents for these purposes. We may also share your information with other companies within the Moredun Group. We shall also be entitled to disclose your personal information in the event that we are required to do so by law.

All financial transactions on the www.moredun.org.uk site are handled through our payment services provider, PayPal. You can review the PayPal privacy policy at www.paypal.com. We will share information with PayPal only to the extent necessary for the purposes of processing payments you make via our site and dealing with complaints and queries relating to such payments.

We will only use your personal information for direct marketing purposes if this is permitted by law or if we have your consent to do so. IP Addresses and Cookies

We may collect information about your computer (including where available your IP address, operating system and browser type) for system administration purposes. This is statistical data related to the browsing actions and patterns of site visitors, and does not identify any individual.

Cookies help us to improve our site and to deliver a better and more personalised service by, for example, enabling us to estimate our audience size, to store information about your preferences, and to recognise you when you return to our site.
