Moredun Research Institute is pleased to be a partner of the newly launched National Research Organisations (NRO) Group, a UK-wide alliance bringing together more than 40 of the country’s leading independent and specialist research organisations.
Officially launched today at the Academy of Medical Sciences in London, the NRO Group provides a collective voice for organisations that deliver world-class research, innovation and scientific expertise in support of national priorities, economic growth and public benefit.
Representatives from government, research, academia, industry and funding organisations attended the launch, including Science Minister Lord Patrick Vallance and Government Chief Scientific Adviser Professor Dame Angela McLean.
As one of the UK’s leading animal health and veterinary research institutes, Moredun brings specialist expertise in livestock health, disease control, parasite management and sustainable agriculture to the NRO network. Through this partnership, Moredun joins organisations from across the research landscape that collectively provide the scientific capability, long-term infrastructure and specialist knowledge needed to address some of society’s most pressing challenges.
The NRO Group was established in recognition of the important role that national research organisations play within the UK’s research and innovation ecosystem. By bringing together a diverse range of institutes, centres and specialist organisations, the Group aims to strengthen collaboration, support research excellence, and provide a coherent voice on science, research policy and investment.
