Job Role

I am postdoctoral research scientist working on an EU-funded project called SPARC – Sustainable PARasite Control in grazing ruminants. My role is to contribute to the project through assessing roundworm burdens and their species composition in ruminants to aid decision-making by farmers to promote sustainable roundworm control. Additionally, I investigate which factors incentivise, motivate, and enable farmers to uptake best practices in roundworm control.

Biography

I completed my undergraduate in Zoology at the University of Edinburgh in 2019. Following this, I worked as a Field Assistant and later completed my PhD in the Pedersen group, University of Edinburgh, in 2025. My PhD focussed on the ecological drivers of vector and vector-borne pathogen infections in wild wood mice (Apodemus sylvaticus). I have also worked on gastrointestinal parasites of Red Deer (Cervus elaphus) and wood mice. My main interests lie in disease ecology and parasitology and I seek to use my knowledge and skills in these areas to lead to applied, real-world impacts to improve animal and human health. This motivation led me to completing a placement in the UK Health Security Agency, working in the Medical Entomology and Zoonoses Ecology group during my PhD, and more recently to working with roundworm infections of livestock at Moredun Research Institute.
