Job Role
Eleanor began working at Moredun in 2005, through the University of Glasgow, taking a proteomic approach to discover novel infection determinants of the pig pathogen Lawsonia intracellularis.
Since 2008, Eleanor has focussed on Campylobacter species and other zoonotic pathogens, applying proteomics and comparative genomics to investigate how they persist in animal reservoirs and cause disease in humans.
Biography
Eleanor graduated from University of Edinburgh with BSc Hons in Medical Microbiology and gained a PhD from the University of Nottingham, School of Pharmacy where she investigated the immunomodulatory potential of bacterial signalling molecules.
She began working at Moredun in 2005, through the University of Glasgow, taking a proteomic approach to discover novel infection determinants of the pig pathogen Lawsonia intracellularis.
Since 2008, Eleanor has focussed on Campylobacter species and other zoonotic pathogens, applying proteomics and comparative genomics to investigate how they persist in animal reservoirs and cause disease in humans.

- Quantitative mass spectrometry to characterise bacterial adaptation.
- Identification of zoonotic pathogens using MALDI mass spectrometry.
- Campylobacter jejuni metabolic versatility in relation to host colonisation and disease outcome.
- Presence and transmission of zoonotic pathogens and AMR genes within wildlife populations.
