Dr Peter Jeffries has been appointed as the new Chair of Moredun Scientific Ltd. He will succeed Dr John Mackinnon who has been chair for the past nine years and is retiring from the post, although remaining on the board of directors.
Peter began his career as a vet in dairy practice in Somerset before moving into the animal health industry. He worked for more than twenty years in a variety of senior roles for two multi-national animal health companies, based in France, the United States and in Africa. More recently he was the Chief Executive of the international animal health charity, GALVmed, and he is currently Chair of Ripple Effect International, a charity focused on improving food security for smallholder farmers across several countries in Africa.
Peter qualified as a veterinarian from the University of Liverpool and holds a Master of Science degree in fish disease from the University of Stirling.
He has been on the board of Moredun Scientific since March 2014.
Rhona Macdonald, Managing Director of Moredun Scientific, said
“I am delighted to welcome Peter as the new Chair of Moredun Scientific and look forward to working with him in his new role. I would like to thank John Mackinnon for his significant contribution to Moredun Scientific during his time as Chair of the company and am very pleased that he has agreed to continue as a member of the board.”
Peter Jeffries said
“After many years of involvement with the Moredun group, it’s a real privilege to be taking over from John Mackinnon as Chair of Moredun Scientific. John steps down having overseen a period of healthy growth and I look forward to working with Rhona and her team to ensure that the company continues to flourish and that we continue to offer high quality, reliable support services to our many clients and partners.”
