Biography

Simon graduated from Reading University in 1976 with a degree in Agriculture with Animal Production.

He worked on the family farm in Rutland for 12 years before setting off on my own to farm at Park Farm in 1989.  This is an arable farm to which he added an outdoor pig unit in 1994.  After starting in small way producing 30kgs weaners it grew to a 600 sow unit producing 15000 finished animals per year.  With all the progeny being sold to Morrissons the supermarket chain.  After 28 years as a pig producer my last pigs will leave the farm by early July 2022.

Simon spent time on the NPA producer group and latterly 7 years as an AHDB Pork Sector board member.  One of his jobs involved being on the Antimircobial group tasked with recording and reducing the antibiotic use in the pig industry in response to the O’Niell report.

He is married with 3 children and have now entered the world of grand parenthood with 6 grandchildren.
