Biography

Rachel is a large animal veterinary clinician at the Farm animal practice in the University of Edinburgh, Rachel graduated from Edinburgh vet school in 2015 and has worked in south west Scotland, the Borders, the Outer Hebrides and around Edinburgh since, as well as a stint in New Zealand and Australia.

Rachel’s day-to-day role focusses on large animal clinical veterinary work around mid and east Lothian and referral work from Scotland and the north east of England. The majority of their clients are beef and sheep but we also have alpaca, pig and poultry on their books.  She teaches final veterinary students out in the field and 4th year and farm animal courses.

Rachel has a strong interest in beef calf/cow research having completed her residency at Edinburgh University with a project on beef calf failure of passive transfer in the UK and this developed into a part time PhD which she hopes to complete this year.  Rachel has continued this theme of research and have further projects within this area currently ongoing.
