Salary: £32,604 - £35,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and conscientious individual to join the Moredun Research Institute’s parasitology group involved in the development, testing and advocating of sustainable parasite control strategies for UK livestock as part of an EU thematic network funded research project (SPARC,  www.wormsparc.com).

The overall goal of SPARC is to establish an active multi-actor network across the EU and UK in order to increase the performance and resilience of ruminant livestock farms by widely disseminating best practices, tools and solutions on sustainable worm control that improve (1) animal health and welfare on farms; (2) economic performance, and (3) the environmental sustainability of the sector.

Experience required

You will have:

  • A PhD in parasitology or other biological related subject or science communication
  • Ability to analyse data and develop knowledge exchange resources to help inform farmers and vets
  • Experience of working with infectious diseases of livestock
  • General knowledge of parasite control in livestock and the livestock farming industry is required to be successful in this role.
