Professor Charles Milne

Professor Charles Milne holds a veterinary degree and has had a career working initially in general practice before progressing to state veterinary medicine where he has held roles as a veterinary officer in the field, veterinary adviser to the Scottish Government and has held the post of Chief Veterinary Officer for Scotland (2003 to 2009) and Chief Veterinary Officer for Victoria, Australia (2014 to 2019).

Professor Charles Milne has also held the post of Director, Scotland of the Food Standards Agency (now Food Standards Scotland) for five years. Professor Milne has significant scientific expertise, knowledge of policy development in the field of animal health, food safety and animal welfare and also brings experience of operating at board level having served on the Council of the Royal Veterinary College for ten years latterly as Deputy Chair and Chair of the audit committee.

Both in the UK and Australia he has chaired and served on a number of animal health related boards and committees. He is currently a board member of Quality Meat Scotland.
