About the role

A vacancy exists for a post-doctoral research scientist to join an exciting, inter-disciplinary collaborative project involving Moredun and the Pirbright Institute on the development of a subunit vaccine to control Haemonchus contortus in sheep. The project will work closely with the Pirbright Antibody HUB to generate sheep monoclonal antibody libraries against a protective H. contortus vaccine antigen complex, H-gal-GP, which will be tested for functional activity both in vitro and in vivo. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with appropriate laboratory experience in immunology and pathogen biology, as well as project coordination and communication skills. This position offers excellent opportunities for career development and skills training in immunology, molecular biology, functional antibody analyses and parasitology, and experience of working with a large international funder. The post is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for an initial period of 3 years. The provisional start date is 22nd April 2025, but this can be flexible. Interviews are planned for the week commencing 3rd March 2025.

Experience required

You will have:

  • A PhD in Biological Sciences or a related subject
  • Peer reviewed scientific publications
  • Experience in immunology and pathogen biology
  • Report writing experience and working to deadlines

A current home office personal license would be desirable.
